Genevieve Shea

I am an AI governance practitioner with more than a decade of experience designing and leading democracy, elections, and institutional reform initiatives across Europe and the United States. I have directed multimillion-dollar governance programs, secured more than $40 million in competitive funding, and worked with governments, legislatures, civil society organizations, and technology partners to strengthen institutional capacity in politically complex environments. My recent work focuses on reducing governance failures that could increase risks from advanced AI. I am developing practical evaluation frameworks that adapt election observation methodologies to assess how frontier AI systems perform during elections, while exploring how democratic institutions can better govern increasingly capable AI. I am particularly interested in scalable governance interventions that strengthen institutional resilience, improve accountability, and support effective coordination around advanced AI risks.
