Updated 09/17/26 · Provided by member · VerifiedChris Aru is a Ugandan social entrepreneur and the founding director of Aru Consult Impact Hub Limited (ACIM HUB), a community-rooted development organization based in Soroti City, Teso Region, Uganda. With extensive experience in community health, rural development, participatory research, and stakeholder engagement, I have led initiatives reaching over 15,000 people across the Teso sub-region, working closely with local governments, civil society, and underserved communities. My interests lie at the intersection of inclusive governance, digital equity, and AI existential safety. I am particularly focused on ensuring that emerging global and national AI governance frameworks reflect the perspectives, vulnerabilities, and priorities of rural and underserved African communities—communities often absent from high-level AI policy discussions. Through ACIM HUB, I will advocate for participatory, context-aware approaches to AI safety that bridge local realities and global governance. For the grantmaking.ai Launch Round for AI Existential Safety, I bring a strong commitment to field-building, equitable AI governance, and amplifying Global South voices in the conversation on reducing existential risk from AI.
