Project Details

AI2Nexus is a campus-wide initiative that coordinates George Mason University’s AI research, education, workforce development, and operations. Led by the university’s vice president and chief AI officer, AI2Nexus integrates AI into teaching, research, and administrative processes; deploys secure tools such as the PatriotAI platform to give students, faculty, and staff managed access to generative AI; and promotes inclusive, responsible AI innovation supported by ethical governance, regulatory insight, and community and industry partnerships.

Theory of Change

AI2Nexus seeks to accelerate beneficial uses of AI while mitigating risks by embedding AI capabilities throughout George Mason University’s teaching, research, and operations; equipping a broad, diverse student body and workforce with AI literacy; and using transdisciplinary research, governance guidelines, and partnerships with government and industry to shape responsible AI deployment at institutional and regional scales.
