Minimum funding: $35,000
The minimum amount supports a 12-week core research and engineering project. It covers $24,000 for principal-investigator research and engineering time; $2,000 for part-time scenario-development and data-QA support; $4,500 for model API and GPU-compute costs; $2,500 for independent safety-evaluation review; $1,000 for cloud hosting, storage, and experiment tracking; $500 for open-source documentation and release costs; and $500 for administration and contingency.
This scope will produce an instrumented evaluation sandbox, 40–50 machine-checkable scenarios across three workflow families, repeated baseline experiments across four model families, deterministic graders, a versioned dataset, an open-source repository, and a technical report.
Ideal funding: $75,000
The ideal amount supports an approximately 20-week expanded study. It covers $40,000 for principal-investigator research and engineering time; $12,000 for part-time research-engineering and data-QA support; $10,000 for model API and GPU compute; $5,000 for independent safety-evaluation review and challenge-set development; $3,000 for statistical-design and reproducibility review; $2,000 for infrastructure; $1,500 for documentation, preprint preparation, and dissemination; and $1,500 for administration and contingency.
The expanded scope would increase the benchmark to approximately 100–120 scenarios, broaden coverage to six model families, add longer-horizon and multi-agent delegation experiments, conduct more seeds and ablations, commission an independent challenge set, and produce a public replication package and results explorer.
If funded at the round’s $50,000 cap, I would complete the entire minimum scope and use the additional funding to broaden model coverage, add initial multi-agent scenarios, and strengthen independent validation.
