Funding for venue and catering for the first full-day convening, where Europe's AI safety institutions and researchers gather and coordinate on what comes next

What I'll do:
I am organising the 2026 European Frontier AI Safety Day. Foresight Institute is co-hosting the event. This is especially timely given the recent announcement of the German AISI on June 9th. It's a governance/policy-oriented event, with around 230 expected attendees. As one can see on the website, we'll feature talks from European AI safety research and policy experts, parallel workshops, a showcase of SAIGE's incubator projects, and a closing panel on the establishment of European AI Security Institutes.
Who's involved: \
1. Me as the organiser. I own the strategic design of the event, venue and speaker scouting, institutional collaborations and fundraising (so far received support from BlueDot Impact and Global Technology Risk Foundation for this event). \
2. I am hiring Poppy Nevin-Adley to help with the operational aspects of EFAIS2026. \
3. The speaker list can be seen on the website.
Concrete output:
I believe an in-person Europe-wide event would increase trust between researchers and policymakers. This would foster potential future collaborations. Moreover, attendees will take home concrete ideas of how they could best contribute to the European AI safety ecosystem, given its current developments.

Theory of Impact

EFAIS2026 will increase shared situational awareness on frontier risks, faster identification of duplicated or missing work, stronger collective responses to incidents, and more capacity to act as a unified voice in policy moments. Moreover, we are planning to have media presence on the day itself to further increase awareness among the general public.
Increases the strength of the AIS talent pipeline: by exposing attendees who are earlier in their AIS careers, connects them with potential employers and mentors.
Building national credibility around AI Safety: especially with its AISI panel and policy-relevant content, signals AI Safety is a serious topic, which will then have downstream effects e.g. political will to staff AISIs properly and fund frontier safety research.

How the money will be spent

Min: Partial funding for two spaces in the venue for the parallel talks;

Ideal: Full coverage of all venue spaces plus catering.
