Carolina Groppa

Carolina Groppa is an Emmy-nominated producer making her first film as a writer-director. MiR, which she wrote and will direct, is a short film about AI safety and governance told as a single conversation between two women. Elena is a celebrated founder whose AI companion for the elderly caused real harm by optimizing for comfort over truth. Joanne is the journalist who once championed her and has come to hold her to account. Carolina brings a producer's rigor to the director's chair. She was previously Executive in Charge of Production at Issa Rae's HOORAE Media and ColorCreative, and her credits include the Emmy-nominated documentary AUTISM IN LOVE, Adamma Ebo's Sundance hit HONK FOR JESUS. SAVE YOUR SOUL (Regina Hall, Sterling K. Brown), and Amazon's SYLVIE'S LOVE (Tessa Thompson). A through-line runs from that work to MiR: films about how people connect, who gets seen, and what we owe one another. She also creates and hosts Angle on Producers, a podcast now past 165 episodes on the craft of producing.
