Brittney Ball

Brittney Ball is Chief Knowledge Officer and Co-Founder at Aortem, and the creator of the AI Documentation Ethics Benchmark (ADECP), a framework for grading how AI companies document their systems' limitations, capabilities, and failure modes. She writes The Documentation Engineer, a weekly newsletter analyzing AI documentation quality through an ethics lens, and is a selected MIT AI Safety Fellow studying technical alignment topics including deceptive alignment and mesa-optimization. Her work argues that the documentation gap is an ethics gap: when users can't understand what an AI system is doing or why, they can't make informed decisions about it, and that failure precedes and enables the more visible technical failures the industry usually focuses on.
