Christos Papalitsas

Christos Papalitsas is a Senior Manager of Scientific Computing & HPC at Pfizer, where he leads the quantum computing program and the technical development of quantum algorithms for various pharmaceutical applications. His role involves the strategic optimization of AI workflows for drug discovery on high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure. His research interests include Quantum Computing, HPC, and AI in Bioinformatics and Drug Discovery. Recently, his work on large-scale foundation models for drug discovery, which are trained on HPC platforms, has led to a deep-seated interest in AI Safety and Biosafety. This focus has been further sharpened through his upcoming collaboration on computational genomics with the Georgakopoulos-Soares Lab at the University of Texas at Austin. He is keen to explore and contribute to developing safe and robust AI models, ensuring that the advancements in AI for science are aligned with ethical and safety-critical considerations. Dr. Papalitsas holds a PhD in Computer Science with a focus on Quantum-Inspired Optimization Algorithms from Ionian University, Greece.
