Josiah Kratz

I am an independent Postdoctoral Fellow working at Georgia Tech, developing theories of learning to understand emergent reasoning dynamics in LLMs. I have recently began to realize the importance of AI safety research. As a result, I am transitioning a bit from my PhD work, in which I developed theories and computational models to understand adaptation and learning behavior in bacteria. On the surface this seems like a large pivot, but I was essentially doing mechanistic interpretability research on bacteria, and now I am doing the same thing on LLMs.
