- Purpose
- We host monthly AI Safety dialogues for African talent, bringing these conversations directly to the community. In the final week of each month, we run small “AI Safety Action Weeks” focused on a specific theme, designed for the African diaspora. Each action week includes three Friday evening sessions and weekend keynotes, along with short, hands-on quests that participants complete to demonstrate engagement. These might include applying to a BlueDot course, summarizing an AI Safety paper, re-running well-known ML algorithms, amplifying a campaign, or building something at a hackathon. Our theory of change is that by anchoring these conversations within the African context, we can help students build a tangible presence in the AI Safety space and increase participation through targeted, incentive-driven engagement. We are applying for a grant to fund our zoom pro for a year.
