    This might be useful: https://x.com/CompleteSkeptic/status/2099925682726002904?s=20

If you can get good human proxy functions working then you can do a lot more scalable analysis of the degree to which AI steering causes regret.

I have funded this for 18k via Lightcone Commons. Reasoning:

The idea seems good, I have seen lots of frustration about the part of the talent pipeline where people spend inordinate amounts of time applying for jobs in a way which wastes their motivation. I buy the Stop Applying And Get To Work philosophy, and…

What progress have you made since your last update?

One way I tried going about the problem was investigating the structure of deep causal transcoding, which shows strong generalization abilities for language models (i.e. finding many interesting generalizations given less sampling). The post gives partial evidence for the 'persistent shallow circuits' hypothesis, which…

@AdnanSlef Support Doom Debates. It hosts the most clearheaded discussions of AI, with a laser focus on the actual problem: we don't know how to align superintelligence, so we must not try to build it.

On AI assistance: Yes, I used AI tools to develop and edit this proposal. That is also part of the research practice being studied here. I use models to help structure language, test distinctions, and challenge drafts; I make the research decisions, verify the claims, revise the text, and take responsibility for the final proposal. I’d rather state that plainly than let an “AI-generated”…

    Is the following accurate?

    - You need $50k to be able to produce till the end of the year
    - So far you've raised $37K in 2026
    - So an additional $13K gets you to EOY

After that, you need $150K to get through 2027.

    - How much do you make in subscription revenue?
    - What happens if you don't hit the fundraising goal? Do you stop producing episodes?

    LLiron Shapira1mo

As of August 2026 (the last time I updated this post), we needed $50k to make it to end of 2026. Since then, Daniel Brockman generously donated $50k, and we're keeping our same budget for the rest of 2026! The numbers in this post are now up to date as of Sep 3, 2026. Note that the total donation amount shown at the top of this Manifund page is cumulative since 2025, and doesn't include…
